Keith Smith, a potato farmer, is facing a workforce crisis after a new law led to most immigration workers leaving. He turned to hiring Americans, but the results are less than stellar. “Most show up late, work slower, and are ready to head home after lunch,” Smith laments. Some even quit after just one day.
